Founded by Gordon G'85 and Fraser Moore G'95, 40tude is an innovative and successful charity championing the early detection of colon (bowel) cancer.
If you're a non-smoker in the UK, male or female, colon cancer is the most likely cancer to kill you. This needn't be the case however: there is a > 90% survival rate if it is detected early. Alarmingly, colon cancer rates are increasing in younger people. Regular testing from your mid-40s is vital.
As well as raising awareness of importance of getting tested for this treatable type of cancer, 40tude also funds vital research. So far we've raised more than £2.7 million, and 40tude is now the lead or exclusive financial supporter of multiple ground-breaking research projects led by the pioneering medics at St Mark's, the National Bowel Hospital, in collaboration with many other respected institutions.
Targeted on transforming the earlier detection of colon cancer, some of the programmes that 40tude’s funding has enabled include:
We raise funds and promote awareness via a series of unusual physical challenges and events throughout the year. Why not join us? It could be life-changing! And if you do just one thing today, please put 'getting tested' at the top of your list - it might save your life.
