We are delighted to welcome Chris McCourt B'83 who has agreed to become our new Chair of the Worth Society following an invitation from Abbot Mark, School Head, Ben Pennington, and the Chair of the Board of Governors, Sebastian Bailey B'93.
Chris, who is a practising barrister in London, has had a long association with Worth and is a serving Governor. He and his family live locally in Sussex or 'God's County' as he prefers to refer to it.
Chris looks forward to supporting the Society and its ongoing work, noting its considerable success to date. This is in many ways down to our departing Chair, Jerry Fletcher G'73, who served the Society for 11 years and to whom we owe a great deal of gratitude for his time and energy.
Jerry's chairship was marked by one guiding instinct: that the School, the Society and the Monastery belong together and flourish best when they are held together. He was, in the truest sense, a lynchpin, bringing those three communities closer than they have ever been; the effects of that achievement are still working themselves out in the life of Worth today.
