The OW Football Club Chair's award is the most important award of the season. This year, in the parlance of Paul Merson, our most famous fan, it was a 'No brainer'. The criteria for the recipient of this award is:
* They should be a leader on and off the pitch
* They should reflect the values of the Club, with the spirit and drive to achieve its aims
* As a player, they should be a true sportsman, competitive with a winning mentality but, above all, fair in their dealings with officials and the opposition
This year's award goes to HARRY WOODMAN F'10!
It’s frightening to think I have known Harry for 25 years and yet I only really got to know him after we both left Worth School. First I got to know Harry 'the dreamer', as we discussed the idea of Worth Society involvement in a 6-a-side team in London and, more recently, the possibility of the Old Worthian FC joining a league. Then I got to know Harry 'the administrator', with the drive and ability to achieve the aim of joining the Arthurian League and gaining FA status. Lastly, I got to know Harry the cup winning captain:
2 x 6 a-side titles
1 x Henry Surtees Cup
1 x David Woolcot Trophy.
As many of you know, Harry has stepped down as Captain although he will continue to be the Club Secretary and also a key member of the team. Oli Rivers F'14 is Captain for the 25/26 season and will also continue as Club Treasurer. Oli will be making club history as he leads us into our first season in The Arthurian League. Let’s hope he can be as successful as Harry.
Andy Taylor, Club Chair
