Interns capture monastic life at Worth

The Monastic Internship Programme at Worth Abbey continues to flourish, offering young men aged between eighteen and thirty-five a rare opportunity to step into the contemplative rhythm of Benedictine life. This summer, three interns, from Norway, Portugal, and Southern England completed their stay, bringing with them a spirit of openness, curiosity, and deep engagement.

Living alongside the monastic community, under the guidance of the Novice Master Fr Luke, the interns immersed themselves in the daily pattern of prayer, work, and reflection. From tending the estate to joining the Divine Office, their experience was both grounding and transformative.

As a creative reflection on their time at Worth, the trio produced a short documentary film. It’s not a polished production, but that’s part of its charm: the video offers a heartfelt and authentic glimpse into life at the Abbey. It’s a joyful testament to the power of community and the enduring relevance of monastic values in today’s world.

For alumni who remember the beauty and stillness of the Abbey Church, the internship programme offers a meaningful way to reconnect with the monks. If you or someone you know might be interested, Fr Luke would be delighted to hear from you. He can be contacted at ljolly@worth.org.uk
