Worth is delighted to share an exciting new chapter in the stewardship of the Abbey estate with the launch of a major Biodiversity Net Gain initiative in partnership with Biofarm.
Biodiversity Net Gain is an approach that ensures nature is left in a better state than before, by creating and restoring habitats for wildlife over the long term. At Worth, around 25 hectares of land within the High Weald will gradually be transformed into species-rich meadow, grassland, scrub and native tree habitats, helping wildlife to flourish and strengthening local ecosystems.
What makes this project especially meaningful is its setting: the shared Worth community, where the Abbey and School work side by side. Each day, more than 550 young people learn and grow here through the School’s ethos of “education with heart and soul”, surrounded by a landscape that reflects those same values of care, stewardship and renewal.
You can visit and discover the Worth Estate using the Walks at Worth Abbey Guide available from the Abbey Bookshop. Find out more here.
