Whilst the pandemic is by no means over, Daniel Grace F'05 is delighted that South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust have recognised his work during the pandemic with a rather special award which Daniel says is "a really kind gesture".
The CCAS Clinical Assessment Service was perhaps unheard of by many, but it brought together a workforce of remote GPs from across the UK to triage and advise thousands of patients with symptoms of Covid-19. Some were locums, others worked alongside their usual jobs and many came out of retirement. Regardless, there was a sense of camaraderie, unity and support, and Daniel played his part in this. Many patients required signposting and reassurance, however many required further assessment and others emergency ambulance dispatch.
Daniel says, "I am proud to have been part of a service that perhaps went under the radar, but played a key part in community management and triage during the various lockdowns that have occurred over the past 18 months".
Many congratulations Daniel!
