Christopher Lamb R'01 has been a correspondent with the catholic newspaper, The Tablet, for 14 years, the last 7 of those as Rome Correspondent. He has embarked on many papal trips and is currently in Africa with Pope Francis who is making historic visits to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan - two nations marred by conflict.
Huge crowds greeted His Holiness in the DR Congo on 31st January and he made an impassioned speech about the "forgotten genocide" and "economic colonialism". You can read Chris's report in The Tablet here.
After leaving Worth, Chris studying Journalism at the University of the Arts in London and then went on to gain a 1st in Theology at the University of Durham. His deep knowledge of the catholic church and religious affairs in general has made him a regular contributor to the BBC Radio 4 Sunday and Today programmes and he was interviewed this week by the BBC World Service about the current papal trip. In 2020 Chris wrote The Outsider: Pope Francis and His Battle to Reform the Church, a fascinating insight into politics within the Vatican.
