Tim Maile G’78 has played an important role in the preparations for the Coronation of King Charles III this weekend. As Master of the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers, he has made a presentation to the Dean’s Verger at Westminster Abbey of the candles for the chandeliers above the High Altar which will burn bright on Saturday.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be representing the Company as Master during the Coronation year”, says Tim who left Worth in 1978 and studied Economics at City of London Polytechnic, before starting a near 40-year career with Investment Company, Quilter Cheviot, managing assets within the private client and charity sectors. He joined the Wax Chandlers’ Company in 1981, when his father, Drayson, an Old Gregorian was Master. He has served in various roles in this now over 650-year organisation, that supports the modern wax industry and the beekeeping profession.
Tim tells us, “Although I am not a beekeeper myself, the link between investment and the beneficial social impact of good environmental practice has become increasingly clear. Working in the City, the Wax Chandlers’ Company seemed a very natural home for me”.
Tim will finish his Masters’ year in August, but whether he will acquire his own hives remains to be seen!
