News from the Worthian Network |
Congratulations to former Worth cricketer Claudie Cooper StA'20 who has signed her maiden professional contract after penning a two-year deal with Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
Claudie excelled at both cricket and hockey whilst at Worth and has been playing senior county cricket for Surrey since 2019, having come through their age-group system. She also played senior regional cricket for the South East Stars, as well as being in and around the Oval Invincibles squad in The Hundred.
Earlier this year, off-spinner Claudie claimed a career best of 4-5 while opening the bowling for Surrey in a County T20 Cup win over Suffolk and such performances have now earned her a two-year contract with Yorkshire Women in the new domestic structure.
Claudie said, “Yorkshire is one of the biggest clubs in cricket and I’ve heard so many amazing things about how they are growing women’s cricket. I know how much the Club wants to win and grow, and that’s a really good fit for me.
“I want to keep developing my game and play my part. With my bowling I can be used in all three phases of the game. If the captain gives me the ball, I know I will be able to do exactly what they want me to do. I’m looking forward to taking my game to the next level.”
Well done Claudie, we are proud of your achievements!
