14 years ago, Joshi Herrmann F’07 left Cambridge with a History degree to work as a features writer on London’s Evening Standard. In 2020 he successfully launched The Mill in Manchester, going on to launch other award-winning online publications in Sheffield, Liverpool and Birmingham. Joshi has now founded The Londoner, a new newspaper delivered via email and covering the best stories in the capital. This is particularly poignant as the now London Standard has been reduced to a weekly freesheet from its heady days as London’s leading printed daily.
On its launch day The Londoner published an investigation into an MP that was mentioned by the Prime Minister, but in addition to hard-hitting articles - such as why the Elizabeth Line is underperforming or why London isn’t building enough family homes - there are also recommendations for things to do and see in the city.
Joshi tells us, "I'm so pleased to be launching The Londoner to provide really high-quality journalism about the capital. Having begun my career at the Evening Standard it's been sad to see its demise in recent years. If you're after in-depth stories and analysis about London, please do join our free mailing list'.
