News from The Old Place |
In September and October this year, the Relics of St Bernadette of Lourdes will journey to England, Scotland and Wales for the very first time. St Bernadette was just 13 years old in 1858 when she had 18 visions of Our Lady in Lourdes. Subsequently she joined an enclosed religious order, while Lourdes has become one of the great pilgrimage sites of the world. Worth is looking forward with eager anticipation to the visit, a very special once-in-a-lifetime event which will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the special gifts and charisms of Lourdes.
The Relics will visit every Catholic Diocese and they will be in Arundel and Brighton from 21st to 24th October. They will visit St Dunstan’s in Woking (21st to 22nd), Arundel Cathedral (22nd to 23rd), and Worth Abbey (23rd to 24th). The Relics will arrive at the Abbey Church at 3pm on Sunday 23rd and depart at 6pm on Monday 24th October.
You are warmly invited to come and pray before the Relics. Please register your attendance here.
If you would like to volunteer in welcoming and supporting those visiting, your time and skills would be much appreciated. You can express your interest by completing the volunteer request form on the Abbey Website or by contacting Kelly O’Hara ASAP on 01342 710 370 or by emailing kohara@worth.org.uk
