Worth School's annual celebration of debating came to a conclusion with the final of the Inter-House Debating Cup competition being played out in front of a salubrious alumni judging panel on 1st March 2024.
All 10 Houses at Worth had taken part in the competition which culminated in two girls’ Houses, St Anne’s and St Mary’s, going through to the final which took place in the Performing Arts Centre.
The judging panel consisted of Edward Henry KC C'80, currently representing sub-postmasters in the Post Office Horizon IT inquiry, current governor Gavin Hamilton-Deeley R'72, his son and former Head Boy Harry Hamilton-Deeley R'18 and recent leaver Murdo Dutton F'22, the last two of whom were very active in debating during their time at Worth.
The motion was on the topical subject of "This house believes that 20% VAT should be added to private school fees". Congratulations to St Anne’s on their success on opposing the motion, well done to St Mary’s for making it an excellent final, and a big thank you to our alumni judges for taking part.
