News from the Worthian Network |
We are thrilled to announce that we have won an award! The Week Magazine have awarded Worth School Winner of the Great Alumni Mentoring Category in their Best of the Best Independent Senior Schools Guide 2024, published this week.
We are thrilled to win this award in the face of strong competition including the likes of Wellington College and University College School Hampstead, who earned mentions from the judges. Here's the full summary of why Worth stood out as the winner:
Worth’s alumni relationships are thriving. Thanks to a generous gift from former Worth pupil, Lord Spencer of Alresford, the new Spencer Building, part of the recently completed Sixth Form Centre, offers an impressive lecture programme to over 600 pupils. The School’s mentoring programme offers careers advice and work placements, as well as an annual ‘speed dating’ careers event in London, connecting former pupils with Worthian professionals. The School’s networking platform, Worth Connecting, offers support from the wider Worth community, and the Global Action Award Programme offers bursaries to leavers taking part in voluntary projects worldwide. A thoughtful leaving gift of a ‘doorstop’ helps students to meet others on their first day of university, while reminding leavers that the door to Worth is always open.
Worth Society Manager, Mary Lou Burge, said, “Being a Worthian is a lifelong relationship and the support we offer through the Worth Society stands us out from other schools – be that post-school careers advice, helping Worthians secure work placements, keeping former students in touch throughout their careers or bringing people back together for one our decade reunions. With our international database we can open up the world for former students.”
We couldn't have achieved this fantastic recognition without our amazing network, so a huge thank you to all of you who have played a part in supporting and mentoring young Worthians in their career paths. If you would like to sign up to be a Worthian Mentor you can do so HERE.
