Oli Jacobs F'10 was celebrating on Sunday evening having picked up another two Grammys at the star-studded awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The hugely succesful recording/mixing engineer had been nominated for four Grammys this year for his work with Kendrick Lamar and Sabrina Carpenter. He ultimately took home the awards for Best Album of the Year for Kendrick Lamar's Luther and for GNX, Best RAP Album of the Year, for the same artist. These bring Oli's total number of Grammys to five, having been nominated an incredible eleven times.
Oli says, 'There is something amazing about being nominated for a Grammy as it is one of the few awards that's judged by your peers'. His advice for people thinking about a career in the music industry is that, although it's a challenging place for people starting out, there is a lot happening and therefore lots of opportunity, you just need to work harder than everybody else.
Post-Worth, Oli studied Sound Recording & Music at the University of Surrey. After graduating in 2014 he spent eight years working at Real World Studios, the recording facility created by Peter Gabriel in a stunning rural setting near Bath, working his way up to head engineer. He is now a freelance mixing engineer based in LA and works with a range of artists including Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
Huge congratulations again to Oli - we are incredibly proud of his success!
